What does a physiotherapy consultation look like?

The purpose of a consultation with a physiotherapist is to asses the functional state of the Patient, assess the need for orthopedic equipment necessary after surgery and to plan the process of postoperative rehabilitation. Orthopedic equipment used by the Patient (e. g. orthesis, walker, tripod) should be brought to the appointment. This is also a good time to ask the physiotherapist about the equipment necessary during the treatment and preparation for the procedure.

Collaboration between the physiotherapist and patients

The key to success is full cooperation between the physiotherapist and the patient. In the process of preparation for the procedure and regaining efficiency, the physiotherapist may recommend special exercises prepared for the patient in domestic conditions that will actively support the rehabilitation process. To make it as fast and smooth as possible, the patient’s engagement and compliance with recommendations are essential.

What does the physiotherapy process look like?

Since every Patient has different physical abilities and limitations, the physiotherapy process and recovery of efficiency is a highly individual matter. Health status and physical condition before surgery play a significant role in determining the possibilities after surgery. Exercise is an important element in physiotherapy because it increases muscle strength, allows for range of motion maintenance in joints, and causes overall physical condition improvement.
